TIPS

How to hold crochet hook
by: Thata Pang

Thrower Style

Crochet hook and yarn are hold by the same hand (see picture on the left), the way to crochet is similar with knitting which is wrapping/throwing the yarn around the crochet hook before pulling it through.

Picker Style

Crochet hook is on one hand and yarn is on the other hand. This style is more common among us. The way to hold crochet hook has 2 different way as well: one is like holding a knife and the other is like holding a pencil. Which is the correct way to hole crochet hook then? There is no correct way, it all depends on you. Or you might want to adjust, holding it like a pencil when you crochet with thin/fine yarn, and holding it like a knife when crocheting with bulk/thick/hard yarn.

What is important is that you are comfortable and you do not get tired easily. Hope this article helps. Happy crocheting!
